Artist Statement
I trust that the
creation starts on the feeling and experiences in our life. What I try to
explore is the possibility that the performing arts converts into the visual
art. I am a part-time performer, this is the reason I decided to use this
element in my creations. I usually perform in team work with drumming and
movement.
These artworks are hoped to give the
audience an imagination of rhythm on the board through the hammered process
sound impact and also the colors metal nails. I choose hammered this action is
because it is similar with the motion when drumming, I hope to find a way to
represent “percussion”. I used six colors metal nails distribute on a
rectangular board, through the location of different color nails, it is bring
us a rhythm by colors. This artwork is trying to explore how “rhythm” can be
representing on a static state platform.
By now, I am exploring more
possibility between visual art and performing arts. I try to explore the
materials from daily life
incorporate into my artworks. And also, I will try to do installation art, use
the space to present my idea. Some more, I will explore sounds in daily life,
after that restructuring them into a song and a visual artwork.
